CHANGES IN LAPLAND
In January 2004 Rovaniemi and the near areas will once again ready to welcome everyone to the 39. Arctic Lapland Rally. The rally has a new clerk of the course Heikki Isomaa. Assistants clerks of the course are Juha Keskiniva and Hannu Patjas. Historic Arctic Laplands clerk of the course is Jorma Poikajärvi.
Arctic Laplands former clerk of the course Heikki Poranen will continue as chairman of organisation committee. “26 years is along time to operate as the clerk of the course and now it’s time to let others show their skills” Heikki incourages. He still wants to be around because he wants to help the young people who are interested in motorsports..
CHANGING OF THE RULES
Chancing of the rules has confused many of us and sometimes is difficult to know where it all will lead. First thought was to give up the EC title but after a while the decision to stay in FIA’s large family was made. We always don’t understand all the rules of a large organisation but you’ll get use to everything.
In European Cup rallies you don’t usually see WRC cars but Arctic Lapland Rally has applied a waiwer from FIA so it will possible to drive A8 and national class at the same time.
Significant in FC is that if the team retires on Friday it’ll be allowed to continue on Saturday with the same car. The team has to sign up to the clerk of the course before 22.00 on Friday evening. Points will be given separately from Friday and Saturday.
In the coming Arctic Lapland Rally there will be only only one service area. It’ll be locates southside of Rovaniemi town in the yard of Shell Teollisuustie.
VIP VILLAGE IN MÄNTYVAARA
VIP village will be located once again in Mäntyvaara on Friday 30. While eating delicious reindeer stew you can follow the exciting moments of the SS 6. Organisation advises to dress varm because the temperature in the VIP tent will be just a bit warmer than the outside temperature. But we’ll guarantee that the atmosphere is warm and kind.
